Spring Home Checklist 

After a long winter, spring is the perfect time to refresh your home and get ahead of small issues before they turn into big (and expensive) problems. Use this checklist to help protect your home, improve efficiency, and enjoy a worry-free season.

Exterior
• Inspect roof for missing, loose, or damaged shingles
• Clean gutters and downspouts (check for proper drainage)
• Check siding and trim for damage or needed caulking/painting
• Inspect and repair window screens
• Check exterior faucets and hose bibs – turn on water and look for leaks

• Clean up winter debris from landscaping and flower beds

Interior
• Check windows and doors for drafts and reseal if needed
• Inspect and clean HVAC system or schedule a professional tune-up
• Replace furnace filter
• Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
• Check for any signs of leaks or water damage

• Deep clean and declutter high-traffic areas

Plumbing
• Check for leaks under sinks, around toilets, and near appliances
• Inspect sump pump – test to make sure it’s working
• Flush water heater to remove sediment buildup
• Ensure drains are clear and flowing properly

• Check water pressure – high pressure can cause damage over time

Electrical
• Test GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoors
• Inspect cords and outlets for signs of wear or damage
• Check exterior lighting and replace bulbs if needed

• Review breaker panel for any tripped breakers or potential issues

Yard & Outdoors
• Rake leaves and remove dead plants
• Trim trees and shrubs away from the house
• Check deck or patio for any damage and reseal if needed
• Clean and prepare outdoor furniture and grill

• Look for signs of pests or critters around your home
